When palms are initially installed, they are green and healthy because they have been protected and maintained at the nursery. Once they are planted, it only takes a couple of years for them to start showing signs of nutrient decline. This is due to the combination of factors such as planting in sub-soil, which is often compacted and a high pH. Palms are frequently over irrigated and not on an adequate fertilizer plan.
